How do you increase your metabolism?
cynthia © asked:
I tried increasing my metabolism my exercising and stuff. I run every day, a mile a day and I also dance twice a week. Vigorous (sorta) for 2 hours. I searched up plenty of sites and they’ve all said that you’ll become warmer to feel that your metabolism is increasing. I don’t know. But I’ve tried a lot and if I can’t find anything, I’m bound to give up. Please help! And also, am I too fat? I’m 13 and i’m 5′ 2″ and i’m 96 lb. Thanks!

You aren’t fat at all. According to this chart (http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/public/heart/obesity/wecan/learn-it/bmi-chart.htm) you could actual afford to gain a few pounds.I hope this helps.

Chewing gum increases your metabolism because you body thinks you are eating something but you aren’t so it uses some of your stomach acids and does something. Sorry, I don’t really know the details. Also, chewing on ice decreases your metabolism for some reason. Also, eating healthier is really good for your health and weight. Good luck!

1. Get into a regular exercise program. Exercise at least 30 minutes a day, five days a week.
2. Do aerobic exercise such as walking, biking or using a stair-climbing machine for at least 30 minutes.
3. Incorporate weight lifting or other muscle-building or maintenance programs. The more muscle mass you have, the faster your metabolism.
4. Exercise twice a day if possible. Do your vigorous workout in the morning, and then take a walk after dinner. This way you will continue to burn calories at a higher pace for almost the entire 24 hours.

Ok something is wrong with this picture… you’re 13, 5′2″ and under 100lbs and you think you’re fat?! You really shouldn’t be worried about that, you’re young and your metabolism is probably at its peak for the rest of your teen years. I can understand you wanting to be healthy but you are definately not fat. Just make sure you don’t stop eating, that right there will not make you lose weight, it will slow your metabolism.
If you really think you need to speed up your metabolism, try eating 6 small meals a day. Your body works like a machine and needs fuel to keep going. By feeding your body healthy foods in small portions throughout the day, your metabolic rate will increase because it will be working all day.
